Daniela Ryf wins Ironman Switzerland in convincing fashion

Dominant win for Ironman World Champion Daniela Ryf (35) at the Ironman Switzerland in Thun. Practically competing on her home turf, the Solothurn native won with a lead of 26:51 minutes ahead of 2nd place Belgian Alexandra Tendeur (35) and 3rd place Finn Hein Hartikainen (37).

Less than two months after her securing her fifth Ironman World Championship in St. George (USA), Ryf never gave her competition any chance in the race across the picturesque Bernese Oberland. Leading from start to finish, she ultimately reached the finish line with a lead of 26:52 minutes, securing her second consecutive Ironman Switzerland crown after also winning the race in 2021.

«Three months before Hawaii, this was a good test for me today», Ryf explained at the finish. «I felt very good at the beginning of the race, but then realized towards the end of the bike leg that I lacked a bit of energy. This accentuated during the run, where I struggled throughout the course. Ultimately, today was a good but tough day for me after six intense weeks of training and I am now looking forward to a proper recovery before heading to St. Moritz for my next block of training. »
