Daniela Ryf to kick-off season on home soil

Four-time Ironman World Champion Daniela Ryf will enjoy familiar Swiss surroundings in her return to competition later this summer. The Solothurn native will begin her 2020 campaign with a start at the Ironman 70.3 in Rapperswil on September 13.

“I am very much looking forward to the challenge”, explains Ryf, who has become a regular participant in Rapperswil over the years. "I have many fond memories of this race and will take great pleasure from competing in front of a Swiss crowd”, the 33-year-old continued.

Due to the late start to the season, Ryf had an unusually large amount of preparation time at her disposal, which she used for a thorough build-up of her form. She has been in St. Moritz since June, where she hopes to lay the foundation for yet another successful season through August. "We have used the additional time to do plenty of work on the core basics and are confident that this will pay off in the months to come", Ryf continued.

Her next big goal is the Ironman Hawaii, which will now take place in February 2021 after the initial schedule had to be pushed back. Before, the two-time Swiss athlete of the year would like to compete in one or two more events this autumn in order to prepare for Kona. When and where these races will take place has not yet been decided.
