Daniela Ryf finally starts into new season

Over one year without any competitions. No wonder, Daniela Ryf can’t wait for her return to racing. The Solothurn native will make her season debut on March 12 in Dubai, competing on a flat course as part of a 70.3 Ironman.

The Ironman in Kona on October 2019 was the last race, Daniela Ryf participated in. The iconic race was followed by cancellations, a period of reorientation, new hope for competitions and the need to find a new perspective. The four-time Ironman and five-time Ironman 70.3 world champion used her time away from competition to recover from a foot injury and to complete her studies in food technology.

The 33-year-old also trained almost exclusively in St.Moritz and now feels ready for a first test of form in Dubai. "Over the past few months, I have been training a lot and with high intensity. But I can't judge my form just yet. That’s why the opportunity to compete again will not only be very welcome, but useful as well," said Ryf, who is extremely excited about getting back into racing after such a long time off. "Naturally, a concrete goal and perspective are great motivators in daily training. The fact that my next start in Dubai is now imminent, makes me very happy."

The 2018 Swiss Sportswoman of the Year won the Ironman 70.3 in the desert state in 2017 and carries fond memories. "The course is flat, the race attractive and the organizers are simply fantastic”, Ryf recalls from her previous starts.

The remainder of Ryf’s 2021 season has not yet been confirmed.
