Daniela Ryf begins training for 2020 season

Daniela Ryf has officially started her preparation for the 2020 season, arriving in St. Moritz over the weekend for a training camp. It is her first training camp after wrapping up 2019 with a number of exciting appearances and activities.

Ryf will complete a first block of training in the Swiss Alps by January 13. Afterwards, she will head off on a two-week training camp trip in Gran Canaria, before returning to the thin Engadine (St Moritz) air for more training at the beginning of February.

Ryf, a seven-time winner in 2019, has her eyes set on reclaiming the Ironman World Championship title in Hawaii in October 2020.

Hampered by stomach problems, Ryf finished last year's World Championship race in 13th place. In the weeks that followed, the four-time Ironman World Champion engaged in a variety of off-season activities, starting with her charitable participation in the Coronation Double Century bike race in South Africa alongside the Breitling Triathlon Squad. This was followed by further sponsor activities and subsequent guest appearances at the Sport Forum Switzerland and the Swiss Sports Awards.

Finally and with an eye towards the upcoming season, Ryf also used some of her time away from competition to run diverse aerodynamic tests at the Velodrome in Grenchen, Switzerland, in order to set the stage for a successful 2020 campaign.
