Daniela Ryf also wins in Zurich

Triple Ironman and 70.3 Ironman World Champion Daniela Ryf won the Short Olympic Distance Triathlon in Zurich today. Ryf had a thrilling race with the men as they were both sent on the track at the same time.

For the 31-year-old from Solothurn, the race in Zurich was a form test, as she only arrived yesterday from the altitude training camp in St. Moritz. Daniela Ryfs anlyse: "I am very happy with today. The fact that I could start with the men was a big advantage. From Lake Zurich I came out of the water one minute behind Manuel Küng and when cycling I was able to compete with the best men. I have taken on leadership work time and again".

Today's race gives the athlete of the year 2015 a lot of self-confidence for the next competitions: "Top day, very good training," says Ryf, who will be the first training unit to complete a long-distance run in St. Moritz tomorrow.

On August 5, Ryf will start halfway across the Ironman distance (70.3) in Gdynia, Poland, before defending her World Championship title in South Africa on September 1 and then traveling to Hawaii. Daniela Ryf is preparing for the Ironman World Championship on Big Island on Maui from mid-September. This is scheduled for 13 October in Kona.
