Course record and European Championship gold for Daniela Ryf

Triathlete Daniela Ryf wins the Ironman in Frankfurt with a new track record of 8:38:44 hours and secures her third European Championship title. The three-time Hawaii winner Ryf wins ahead of Sarah True/USA and Sarah Crowley/AUS.

Daniela Ryf wins her first race over the long distance this year. The woman from Solothurn showed outstanding mileage and was very satisfied with her race: "It was an incredible day. I was over my limit but everything went great".

Only six men completed the race in Frankfurt faster than Ryf and the women had no chance. The 31-year-old takes a load off his mind. Especially since she's never taken such a long break from competition. The last race over the long distance took place in October 2017, but now she is relieved: "It was hard to watch the previous competitions and only to train. But the break was good for body and mind".

EM Silver goes to Sarah True. The American loses over 30 minutes on Ryf. Bronze goes to her namesake from Australia Sarah Crowley.
